Man attacked by Buffalo

Wilson, a fisherman from Naivasha, while walking home with his friends in the evening hours from their daily hustle, was attacked by a buffalo.
In a group of 4, two of them managed to escape while the remaining two, including Wilson, couldn’t. This resulted in them sustaining injuries.
Wilson’s friend broke his leg while he recalls having a sharp pain in his neck.
“ I could not turn my neck and when I touched it, I went unconscious.”
In no time, Wilson was brought to our main Hospital, about an hour away from Naivasha.
He said when he was brought, his friends did not think that he would make it out alive.
“I was taken to the theater that day. Afterwards, I was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). On the third day, I regained my consciousness. But I had lost my memory and I did not know where I was,” Wilson said.
He remembers how he was unable to talk.
With continued care, he was moved to the High Dependency unit (HDU) and afterwards to the general male ward as he got better.
We met him on his hospital bed in Wairegi, the male ward on the 17th day after admission.
He shares how the doctors explained to him how he got here. He couldn’t connect but he did…. “When they mentioned the buffalo,” Wilson says, laughing.
“I feel much better and my health keeps on improving daily. Although my right arm is still weak and numb, I believe God is faithful. I am going to fully recover soon,” he says in faith.
“For the 17 days that I have been here, I got the best services. I thank the doctors from Kijabe for giving me good care and attention.
“They have monitored me closely all through. I appreciate that I was even able to get the kind of food advised by the doctor for my condition,” Wilson said.
On the same day, the doctor discharged him.
Wilson with smiles tells us how happy he is that he has been discharged and going back home as a changed man.
Wilson also shares about spiritual care he got while admitted. Our chaplains would visit him, pray with him and encourage him.
He reveals that despite his long history of addiction, his coming to the hospital was for both physical and spiritual healing.
He would not be spiritually changed were it not for the buffalo injury.
Wilson promises to start going to church when he returns home and help his friends change, for he is a changed man.
