The Promise of Tomorrow: Mebukori's Healing Odyssey

"Last year, late December, my nephew needed urgent medical attention. His arm was rotting and he was in so much pain. I knew getting help from most hospitals around would be difficult during the holidays, so I decided to come to Kijabe Hospital. This was not the only reason I chose Kijabe,” shares Molongo, the uncle of one of our paediatric patients, named Mebukori.

Mebukori had injured his left arm a few months earlier while playing at their home in Narok. His uncle’s resolve and choice to come to our facility was strengthened by recalling how a neighbor's child had recovered from a head injury after being treated by our team.

"I realized that consulting a local healer was a mistake; Mebukori's condition was worsening rapidly. Remembering the successful treatment of my neighbor's child at Kijabe Hospital affirmed my decision," Molongo explained.

Mebukori has undergone five operations so far by our plastics and reconstructive surgery team, and only one is left before he can finally be discharged.

Molongo expressed his intention to enroll his 6 year old grandson in school once they return home. "I want him to start his education as soon as possible. My hope is for him to become a doctor so that he can return here and help others, just as we have been helped," Molongo concluded.

We pray and wish our potential future doctor and colleague a quick recovery!
